Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Delta Epsilon Sigma Chapter was founded in Nassau, Bahamas on May 19, 1978. This chapter was chartered because Bahamian brothers felt that they needed a local outlet (Alumini Chapter) for brothers who had just graduated from college in the U.S.A.
The Five Charters were: Rev. Enoch Backford, now a renown Baptist Minister in The Bahamas; Kevin Hanna, now a bank executive at The Bank of The Bahamas; William Dean, now a tourism official in The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism; Danny Strachan & Freddie Munnings Jr.
The ongoing quest of SigmaBahamas is to serve The Bahamas as a leader in the local Greek world. This is being accomplished by providing and endorsing meaningful social activities, making available opportunities for scholarly endeavors, and most importantly, attracting and maintaining a collection of young business-minded men who possess high morals and socioeconomic standards. However, without them the organization would cease to exist and its ideals would perish. |
